Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission OKs private club permit for Frisco Square restaurant

The Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved a specific-use permit for a private club for First Round Draft Bar & Grill in Frisco Square during the Nov. 27 regular meeting.

According to city staff, the restaurant owners want a full-service bar and would anticipate deriving 60 percent or more of its gross revenue from the sale or service of alcoholic beverages. This would require a specific-use permit, according to the city’s zoning ordinance.

The restaurant opened in Frisco Square last spring at 8898 Coleman Blvd.

City staff said because the establishment is located in a mixed-use development and the area is shown as an urban center on the city’s future land use plan, a private club permit is compatible with the surrounding development.

“I personally support this; I think we need to have a little more night life down there in Frisco Square,” Commission Chair Rob Cox said.
